    Proud to Stand With VVA

This memorial honors the Rhode Islanders who served, alongside Vietnam Veterans of America and veterans across the state.

    Why It Matters

About 21,000 Rhode Islanders served in the Vietnam War. 209 never came home. Many who did came home to silence. A permanent memorial says what this state never fully said: we remember, and we are grateful.

      For Teachers and Schools

A Forgotten War Belongs in the Classroom

For many students, the Vietnam War is a paragraph in a textbook, if it comes up at all. Our About Vietnam guide explains the war clearly, with photos, original film and a full timeline, and teachers are welcome to use it in class. You can also request a Vietnam veteran speaker or plan a class visit to the memorial site.
